Andrea Miranda is a Costa Rican multidisciplinary artist, playwright, theatre director, poet, and performer working between Costa Rica and the United States. Her artistic practice moves across physical theatre, poetic dramaturgy, ritual performance, and contemporary experimental creation.

Influenced by the visceral language of Antonin Artaud, the corporeal investigations of Jerzy Grotowski, surrealism, absurdism, the aesthetics of esperpento, and Fernando Arrabal’s Panic Theatre, her work explores expressive theatrical languages where the body becomes a symbolic territory charged with memory, fragility, desire, violence, and transformation.

For Miranda, text is never absolute, but rather a skeletal structure in dialogue with the actor’s physical score, musicality, visual composition, and poetic imagery. Through interdisciplinary processes that merge movement, dramaturgy, sound, and visual symbolism, she creates liminal stage universes suspended between ritual, dream, confrontation, and performance.

Her work places strong emphasis on atmosphere, aesthetics, and the emotional architecture of the stage image while exploring new performative languages through embodied and poetic creation.

She is the founder and artistic director of Manifiesto Escénico Producciones.
